22 miles around Tacoma on September 19th 2026
The Grit City Gauntlet
What:
A self-paced nearly 22 mile walk (about 1200 ft elevation gain) on September 19th, 2026 exploring the beautiful city of Tacoma. All are welcome as it is totally free and you can join for 1 mile or all 22. Highlights will include Downtown Tacoma, Wright Park, University of Puget Sound, Point Defiance, Ruston Way and Stadium High School. There is so much to Tacoma that could not be included in the route, but folks can create their own saunter!
We will make stops at in the Proctor Neighborhood, Fort Nisqually, Dune Peninsula, and along Ruston Way if folks would like to join/depart mid way through. We always encourage using the bus! If you choose to join along the route, see below for expected times and locations. The start will be at the Washington State History Museum at around 9:00am (parking lot right next to the museum and the 594 leaves from downtown Seattle at 7:54am and arrives 8:47am). The whole event will be about 8.5-9 hours with breaks along the way. The main group is expected to finish back at 7 Seas Brewery and Taproom around 5:30-6:00pm.
Come have fun, explore Tacoma and don’t forget to bring a friend!
